THE COLLECTIONS
Materials Chosen with Care
Turkish silk and Mongolian cashmere — selected piece by piece for the quality of the weave, the depth of the dye, and the hand of the fabric. Every piece in our collection is chosen in person, with care taken over provenance, fibre content, and finish.
Our collections include pure silk scarves, cashmere shawls, Ikat and Suzani textiles, handcrafted jackets, and decorative home pieces — each one identifiable by the quality of its making.
THE HOUSE
Craft Rooted in Place
Gülipek Hamit Fırat has been part of the Grand Bazaar since 1968 — a presence built by Hamit Fırat and continued through three generations of the family. The house's position in the bazaar is not incidental: Istanbul has been a centre of silk and textile trade for centuries, and this history runs through everything we carry.
The materials and techniques behind our collections — silk weaving, cashmere finishing, Ikat patterning and Suzani embroidery — each have their own place in this longer tradition.
COLLECTIONS
Handcrafted Jackets
Each jacket in the collection is made in Türkiye using Ikat fabric, cashmere, or velvet. The construction varies by piece — padded, lined, and finished by hand. The result is a garment that carries the character of its material and the time taken in its making.
Ikat jackets use fabric woven using a resist-dyeing technique applied to the thread before weaving — producing the pattern from the fibre outward. Cashmere and velvet jackets follow their own construction methods, each selected for quality of material and cut.

Three Stores, One Textile House
Our three stores are within walking distance of each other in the Beyazıt district of Fatih, Istanbul — each one part of the Grand Bazaar neighbourhood. Headquarters is at Cebeci Han No.31, Yağlıkçılar Atelier at No.69 on Yağlıkçılar Caddesi, and Divrikli House at No.49 on Divrikli Sokak.
Across our three locations, we offer silk, cashmere, Ikat and Suzani textiles, with each store carrying a distinct selection. Handcrafted jackets are available at Headquarters No.31 and Divrikli House No.49; availability varies by location. We are open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–19:00.

Care, Exchanges & Assistance
Silk and cashmere reward careful handling — washed at the right temperature, stored away from direct light, and handled gently. We publish clear guidance on washing, storage and long-term care for every fibre type in our collection, including silk, cashmere, wool, velvet, and Ikat and Suzani embroidery.
If a purchase requires an exchange or you need assistance after your visit, please contact us directly. We handle each request individually and aim to resolve any issue without complication.

Where exactly in the Grand Bazaar are your stores?
We have three locations in the Beyazıt district of Fatih, Istanbul. Headquarters: Yağlıkçılar Caddesi, Cebeci Han Girişi No:31. Yağlıkçılar Atelier: Yağlıkçılar Caddesi No:69. Divrikli House: Divrikli Sokak No:49. All three are open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–19:00.
What languages do your staff speak?
Our team speaks Turkish and English and can assist international visitors with product information, sizing, textile identification, and recommendations.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash in Turkish lira, euros, and US dollars, as well as credit and debit card payments at all three locations.
Do you ship silk scarves and cashmere shawls internationally?
We do not operate an online shop; our textiles are sold in person at our three Grand Bazaar stores. For specific enquiries from abroad, please email info@gulipekhamitfirat.com or reach us via WhatsApp and we will do our best to assist.
Is your silk and cashmere genuine?
Yes. We carry pure silk and genuine cashmere — not blended or synthetic imitations. Every piece is selected by hand and clearly labelled. Our staff are happy to explain fibre content and quality in store.
